What’s A Security BSides?
In short, BSides Iowa is a free information security conference for all experiece levels! “BSides” events are a community-driven framework for building educational, peer-organized events in the information security community. These events create opportunities for individuals to both present and participate in an intimate atmosphere that encourages collaboration. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interactions from participants. It is where conversations for the next-big-thing are happening!
Why A BSides in Central Iowa?
Central Iowa is filled with a wide range of security professionals with various skill levels. The Des Moines Area is a major center for the insurance industry and also has a sizable financial services and publishing base. Ames, just a 45 minute drive from the Des Moines metro, is the home of Iowa State University. ISU is home to one of the original seven NSA certified centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance. Additionally, Des Moines is the home of the DMACC ECI, a 2-year program to educate students and law enforcement professionals in the ever-growing threat of cyber crime and cyber terrorism. Des Moines is located within five hours of Chicago, four hours from Minneapolis and Kansas City, and two hours from Omaha. We’re excited to be in the perfect position to draw upon security experts from across the region for this conference.
